Spring Has Arrived!

After a long winter – it is nice to finally have warm and sunny conditions! Well, not exactly consistently warm and sunny, still have some cooler / cloudy / wet days – but it is a nice change from the cold and snow that is for sure!

At the end of last week the snow finally melted down enough that we could pull our air drills from where they were stored over winter into the main yardsite where we can fold them out and start to do some preseason work to them. Most of the major work was completed last summer – but we do have a checklist that we go over each spring to make sure everything is in good working condition. The major items are checking all the electrical connections and making sure we have full functionality.

The past month we were busy hauling grain – had a fair amount that was contracted to move from mid February through end of March. Due to the colder weather and rail delays – most of it ended up moving in a matter of weeks vs months, so it was quite busy!

It will be a while yet before we can get into the fields to do any work – still a fair bit of snow in the treelines; as well as a fair bit of water running through the fields yet. At this point it is way too early to be estimating a start date for planting…but we will be ready to go when the field conditions are ready!
