Fungicide Season. Getting Dry Again.

Fungicide spraying started at the end of last week. We sprayed the earlier planted canola with Proline / Miravus Bold – will wait on the rest to see what the weather does before spraying any more canola.

The first wheat and barley fields also just got started. This next week will be a big week for staging crop and making sure we get the timing as close to optimal as possible.

Had to spray for some cabbage seedpod weevils in canola this year – that’s a first for us.

Crops to date are still ahead of normal and well ahead of last year.

We have been fortunate to get a few shots of moisture last week and the week before – but it will start to dry out quickly now. These stages of growth the plants need a lot more rain especially through their reproductive stages.

Forecast is not expected to be too hot coming up but doesn’t look like much rain in the next 7-10 days either. The subsoil moisture will help but a good general soaking rain would go a long way to holding the crop potential up!
